NL All-Star Cocktail: First Returns
Two fan-favorites from the home stadium lead their position in votes, and the unbelievable run by Paul Goldschmidt hasn't gone unnoticed.

Again, before we begin: This is the first return of votes, and this list does not reflect a consensus of the best players, rather, it is strictly from ballot results. Otherwise, guys like Pete Alonso on the NL's top team would be talked about below.
The nine All-Star hopefuls leading the charge at their respective positions are all worthy of a starting spot in Los Angeles for the midsummer classic.
Let's take a look at some key figures from these stars:

Manny Machado and Paul Goldschmidt have extremely high WAR metrics, and along with Bryce Harper, their combination of BA and OPS is nothing short of incredible.
Joc's WAR is unusually low for a player voted to start, but he leads the Giants in Home Runs as well as RBI, tied with teammate Wilmer Flores. Perhaps he's also getting votes from LA fans who want to see the former Dodger postseason hero in action at Chavez Ravine.
Now we'll have a look at each players individual stats up to this point in the season.

The best player on this list could be argued in favor of Goldy, Manny, or Bryce with ease because they're all so damn good. The MVP race will be very disappointing for two of these players if they keep up their production through October.
