Mid-Season Report Card: Wizards

Beal has denied reports of wanting out, and now the Wizards are crawling back to play-in tourney zone.

Depletion

The Wizards were ravaged by injuries and Covid in the beginning of the season, and their roster was severely depleted. Within their roster is a lack of depth, and Scott Brooks puts together some strange lineups. What anyone would do with the Wizard's roster is an impossible task to be successful at, however.

The trade doesn't make much sense now, but the Wizards would've been stuck in mediocrity with Wall or Westbrook. Scott Brooks is probably on the hot seat.

All-Star starter Bradley Beal

His numbers are incredible, but it's even more incredible how embarrassing they are in regards to wins and losses. He dropped 60 points in a loss, and other high scoring nights almost always resulted in losses as well.

Beal seems loyal to the franchise, but they're wasting his prime. They need to make big moves this summer or give him his freedom. Most teams would love to have him, and their front offices would at least try to do more to accommodate his talent with a sound roster.

Inevitability

The Wizards could make the play-in. They could. They would also lose miserably to any team in a seven game series, so there's not much to look forward to in Washington. Maybe Deni Avdija will be the next Luka.
