Mid-Season Report Card: Spurs
Updated: Mar 14, 2021
Their over-two-decade playoff streak was snapped, but not so fast. The Spurs are poised to make the postseason again.

Tradition
The most overlooked team in the league is viewed this way because of their lack of flashiness, and let's face it, because they always make the postseason. Last year was the first time in over two decades that San Antonio missed out on the playoffs, and it wasn't by much. The Spurs are very solid this season and their record is impressive given the conference's strength.
They had no all-stars this year, and Utah had three. Something tells me they'd by eyeing revenge if they met in the playoffs. Of course they wouldn't. The Spurs motto has always been 'team basketball' and if there's any team that doesn't give a damn about that stuff it's one commanded by Greg Popovich.
Leading the charge
DeMar DeRozan is their star, and he's averaging 20 PPG, 4 RPG, and 7 APG. Don't believe the Spurs' team basketball philosophy? His career average for assists is 3.7 per game. Dejounte Murray has been a reliable all around force for them as well, and role players that are great at their jobs are aplenty in San Antonio.
If the coyote played for the Spurs he would surely produce at high clips for them.
LMA
LaMarcus Aldridge is going to be traded or bought out by the team very soon, and a contender would love to have him. He's past his prime, and the Spurs have an adaptability that outlived his production to the team.
In return the Spurs will probably look for draft picks and shooting, but the buyout option seems plausible as well.
Don't be surprised
The Spurs have shown what basketball excellence is on so many occasions, and this is proven by their five championships since 1999. Even though they aren't the hallmark of the league this year, they will be feisty in a playoff series against anyone.
Special shout out
The Spurs have the best City Edition uniforms in the league.
