Mid-Season Report Card: Nets

There's no reason the Nets shouldn't be in the finals. Their star power is unparalleled, and their offense is incredible. Stranger things have happened, though.

Don't bring back KD, it'll ruin the chemistry!

The Nets are the favorites out east, and rightfully so. It's very reminiscent of the Warriors of 2016-17 until Durant's departure, which actually brings up an interesting point. If Durant didn't like playing with other stars that detracted from his leadership status, why did he replicate that synthesis in Brooklyn? The former would point to Golden State and their fans' loyalty to Curry, compared with Brooklyn's recognition that this is Durant's team. But hell, his two teammates are in the MVP conversation.

Maybe this is a new Durant that's chill and just looking to win a title, which is certainly a huge possibility this year. Whatever the off the court nonsense, KD is a top 5 player in this league and the greatest scoring forward, probably ever. Unleash New York's least favorite team outside of the Islanders!

Barclays is hosting games in July

The Finals will be in July this year, and Brooklyn will be there. Heaven forbid any injuries, the Nets are getting out of the East.

No team can slow down their offensive firepower, besides maybe the Sixers and Bucks, but slowing down doesn't necessitate winning against. It doesn't seem possible for the Nets to lose, but maybe the Knicks can show them what real New York basketball is like!

All jokes aside, count on Brooklyn playing the Jazz, Lakers, or Clippers in the finals.
